RemoteAccess 1.00 release notes
-------------------------------
Welcome to the 1.00 release! It's crammed full of over six months
worth of intensive development work, incorporating a large number of new
features and bug fixes.
We thank all of you that registered 0.04 in good faith for the 1.00 release -
and hope that this upgrade is more than you expected. Accordingly a much
larger proportion of the major new features are available only to registered
users.
There are many file structure changes in this release from previous versions.
Therefore it's essential that you run the 004TO100.EXE utility as well as
RACONFIG to do the necessary conversions. Note that the only major structure
changes are to the CONFIG.RA and EXITINFO.BBS files, and that both of these
have simply been extended, leaving them backwardly compatible with 0.0x
utilities.
Two third party utilities are included in the package. AVTCONV converts your
existing ANSI screens to AVATAR, and RAEXIT converts the new EXITINFO.BBS
format to the 0.04 format and vice versa. The authors of these utilities are
James Berry and Mark Howard, respectively; I thank them for granting permission
to include them in this release archive.
Quick upgrade procedure:
------------------------
1. Replace all of your old executable and overlay files with the ones in this
release archive.
2. Run RACONFIG to update the appropriate *.RA files. Have a look around to
familiarise yourself with the new layout and options.
3. Run 004TO100. This will:
- Generate the new USERSXI.BBS. This file contains all the new user
information, as well as the user's combined area settings.
--> COMBINED.BBS IS NO LONGER USED <--
4. Delete USERON.BBS from your RA system directory.
If you are currently registered with us, you'll be pleased to find that your
existing RA.KEY file is still valid for this release. This is in keeping with
our policy of providing a top product at minimum cost to you, quality support
and an ONGOING commitment to the future.
Work is underway now for the next series of releases. If you thought 1990 was
good, wait until you see what we've got planned for 1991!
